Jasmine leaves Detroit with nothing but ambition and a dream of becoming a professional dancer. Arriving in Los Angeles, she lands her first audition and unexpectedly books a coveted spot in the music video of Scarlet, a rising Tik Tok artist. Thrown into the high-energy, cutthroat world of backup dancing in the dance industry, Jasmine quickly learns the unspoken rules of the industry: the competition, the sacrifices, and the responsibility to protect the star at the center. But when a fan’s admiration turns dangerous, the glittering opportunity reveals its darker edge. More than just a dance film, [Background] explores ambition, resilience, and the hidden battles behind the spotlight — where the line between performance and protection blurs, and a young artist must fight to claim her place.
